Kernaro Assist

What it is

Kernaro Assist is an add-in from Sparx Systems that puts a chat panel inside Enterprise Architect. Sparx names five capabilities: Model Chat, Core Modeling, Diagram and Model Analysis, Event-Driven Architecture Agents, and Governance and Validation. It works on the live model and respects the repository’s structure and your MDG Technology.

Agents can be set to run when something happens in EA, such as a connector being created, and to ask your approval before they change anything. It runs on its own, or connects to Kernaro AI Hub when a team wants single sign-on, shared agents and an audit trail.

Who it is for

Architects who model in Enterprise Architect all day and want the AI in the same window. It is the modeler’s tool in the Kernaro family. Analysts and stakeholders who never open EA are served by Kernaro AI Hub and Prolaborate instead.

The job

What it helps you do

  • Modeling

Describe the elements, relationships and diagrams you need and review what it makes in the model. Sparx’s example prompt is “Create a capability map for CRM.” It works in your MDG, so what comes back is already in your language.

  • Analysis

Ask the repository a question in plain language, such as which applications support a process, and get a structured answer without writing a query. It follows relationships, dependencies and hierarchies across the model.

  • Governance

Ask it to check the model against your standards. Sparx says it finds “inconsistencies, missing relationships, naming issues, and structural deviations.” Agents can run checks as architects work, so problems are caught at the source.

Choosing it

When Kernaro Assist is the right choice

Choose it when your architects live in Enterprise Architect and you want the AI there, with a path to central control through Kernaro AI Hub later. It fits a modeling team, because it has no surface for people who do not open EA.

It works on the model in front of it. Stakeholder answers, Power BI feeds and work across Jira or Confluence belong to Kernaro AI Hub. For the widest range of guided work on the live model, including building reporting and Prolaborate views, look at Claude + AI Power Tools.

You license it from Sparx Systems. The Basic license reads the model, and the Advanced license changes it and runs agents. You bring your own LLM from Anthropic, OpenAI or Azure OpenAI and pay that provider for usage.

Teach it, or set it up

How we help

  • Set it up on your repository

We configure Kernaro Assist for your repository, your MDG Technology and your IT constraints, and prove the first tasks on your own model before your architects take over.

    Configure the solution
  • Train and mentor your architects

The Foundations course with Kernaro Assist teaches your architects to state intent, set the standard and judge what comes back, on your own repository. We mentor them until it sticks.

    The course
  • Sparx Office Hours

A standing session where your team brings what they are stuck on and sees how others solved it.

Questions

Kernaro Assist: common questions

Which AI model does Kernaro Assist use, and who pays for it?
You choose. Kernaro Assist is bring-your-own LLM, so your organization uses its own Anthropic, OpenAI or Azure OpenAI account and pays that provider for usage.
Does Kernaro Assist send my whole repository to the AI provider?
Sparx's FAQ says it "does not automatically transmit the entire EA repository." It processes "the user prompt, relevant EA model context, selected artifacts, and any content explicitly provided by the user."
Can I use Kernaro Assist without Kernaro AI Hub?
Yes. Both licenses run on their own. Single sign-on, named seats, shared agents and the audit trail come when the Advanced license is connected to Kernaro AI Hub.
Do we buy Kernaro Assist from Sparx Services?
No. Kernaro Assist (opens in a new tab) is licensed from Sparx Systems. Sparx Services is a NovoCircle practice, independent of Sparx Systems Pty Ltd, and teaches teams to use it well.
